All About Imp-Cen...
History
Imp-Cen Kennels was founded in 1974 by my mother, Mrs. Connie Halliday. The name Imp-Cen is derived from Connie's first two German Shepherds, Imp & Centaur. Neither of these were show quality dogs, but they were all shepherd in heart and spirit. The first "titled" Imp-Cen dog, was Imp-Cen's Shadow, CD, having earned that title in the mid 70's. Having decided that dog shows were going to be a passion, Mrs. Halliday purchased her next two German Shepherds from Mrs. Anne Given, Steinhuegel Kennels, Nashville, TN. The first dog was Steinhuegal's Yasko, by Pohlo vom Steinhuegel x Vera vom Fleischerheim, descends from German Siegers Ajax vom Haus Dexel, Hanko vom Hetschmule and Youth Siegers Klodo aus der Eremitenklause and Sma von der Schrinklergrenze. The next shepherd, a bitch, was Lacey vom Steinhuegel, by Select Ch. Steinhuegel's Siggo x Irela von der Mindelaue, goes back to Ajax vom Haus Dexel, Klodo aus der Ermitenklause, and Ch. Bernd von Kallengarten and Jalk von Fohlenbrunnen.
Through the support, guidence, and friendship of both Mrs. Given and Mrs. Mary Wingate (Hexengasse Kennels), Mrs. Halliday established her Imp-Cen line using what she considered to be the finest German and American bloodlines.
The Imp-Cen Lines....
The sire of our foundation bitch, Kummervoll's Holly (pictured in the above photo), is Ch. Torque Of Frohlich, who is by Ch. Llano Estacado's Gengis,ROM x Frohlich's Elsa v. Grunes Tahl, ROM, dam of the great Ch Lance of Fran Jo, ROM. Holly's dam is Kummervoll's Dee Dee of Chenango,CD who is by GV Ch, Yoncall's Mike,ROM x Melody of Deines Haus. One of our earliest breedings was Holly to Imp-Cen's Lonie v. Hexengasse, who is by Ch. Fashion v Sonnenbachtal,CD (a sel Ch. Haydelhaus Augie v. Zahnarzt,ROM son) x Gerra vd Hexengasse. This breeding produced Imp-Cen's Heritage, who retired with 14pts & 1 major. Sadley, our financial situation of that time cost us our first champion.
But old habits die hard, and with courage and determination, Mrs. Halliday continued her kennel and her lines. She didn't spend money showing her dogs during those days, just maintaining them, and breeding a litter ONLY when necessary to prevent the loss of this valuable lineage. She knew that financial difficulty could be overcome, and that one day the Imp-Cen dogs would return to the ring!
